Decluttering older homes
Lofts and outbuildings often hide a mix of furniture, timber, electricals and things that need special handling. Send photos of anything unlabelled or odd-looking, and keep it out of the normal rubbish.
WEST SUSSEX SERVICE AREA · ARUNDEL
Arundel has a historic centre, varied residential streets and properties on the routes out towards the Arun valley. In older homes and narrow streets, check the access and what is going in before you order.
D J RECYCLING · WEST SUSSEXLOCAL SERVICE GUIDE
We work in Arundel regularly, about nine miles from our Worthing yard. In the old town, where skips are difficult, most customers choose a collection or a skip bag. On the outskirts, skips and clearances work the same as anywhere else.
Because space is so limited near the castle and High Street, our collection and clearance services are popular here. We bring the van, carry everything out and leave nothing on the street. For renovation waste in period homes, a small skip or a skip bag keeps heavy material manageable.
LOCAL PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
A few things worth checking before you book in Arundel.
Lofts and outbuildings often hide a mix of furniture, timber, electricals and things that need special handling. Send photos of anything unlabelled or odd-looking, and keep it out of the normal rubbish.
Restricted stopping space can be more important than how many items there are. In central Arundel, send a photo of the road and your entrance. We check whether a skip can go on the road before booking.
Garden, shed and fence jobs usually leave wood, cuttings, bricks and packaging. Ask us how to split the waste, so nothing goes in a skip that should not.
Local planning tip: In older homes, check before treating odd materials as normal rubble. Older insulation, roofing and coatings should be identified before removal or loading.
ARUNDEL LOCAL GUIDE
Arundel is a special place to work, and a tricky one. The old town below the castle has steep streets, very few drives and a large conservation area, so where the waste goes matters as much as how much there is.
In the centre, around the High Street, Tarrant Street and the lanes off them, a skip usually needs a road permit and a careful look at access. For many of these jobs a rubbish collection or a skip bag works better, because nothing has to sit on the street for a week.
Further out towards the A27 and the newer roads, there is more space and a standard skip on a drive is often fine. Renovations in older Arundel houses tend to produce plaster, old timber, roof tiles and sometimes stone, so tell us what you expect to throw away and we will match the skip and the price.
Arundel is around nine miles from our Worthing base. Give us a little notice and send a photo of the street outside, and we will confirm what is possible before you book.
