Why sofa disposal is different from ordinary rubbish
Old sofas and armchairs can contain chemicals covered by POPs rules. It has to be kept separate from other rubbish. That is why we ask exactly what you are disposing of.
Please do not leave sofas unattended outside the property before agreeing a collection. Tell us where it is and we will carry it out.

Sofa collection often comes down to three practical questions: what sofa it is, how it will get out of the property, and how the upholstered item must be handled after collection. These details are more useful than a generic “we collect furniture” promise.
Straight sofas and armchairs
Tell us the number of seats and whether the item separates into manageable pieces. Tell us roughly how wide it is and send a photo.
Corner sofas and sofa beds
State how many sections the sofa has, whether a mechanism or metal frame is present, and whether the sections can be separated. It helps us plan the carrying.
Flats, narrow halls and stairs
Mention the floor number, lift dimensions, stair turns and any tight doorways. A sofa that fits the room may be difficult to manoeuvre out without planning.

Can you collect a corner sofa?
Please send dimensions, a photograph and the number of separate pieces. We check the access and weight before we book it in.
Do you remove sofas from upstairs?
Tell us the floor level, stairs and door widths. We agree the carrying with you in the quote.
Can a sofa go into a normal skip?
Do not assume so. Sofas cannot go in a skip because of POPs rules, so book a sofa collection instead.
Can you collect a recliner or sofa bed?
Tell us its size and whether it has electric parts.
How do I get a sofa removal quote?
Send a photograph, sofa type, number of pieces, postcode and details of stairs or restricted access.
Can a sofa be placed in a mixed-waste skip?
Do not assume it can. Some waste upholstered seating contains persistent organic pollutants and is subject to specific segregation and treatment rules. Ask for the correct route before disposal.
Do you collect sofas from upstairs flats?
Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift, and send a photo of the stairs. We just need to be able to get it out safely.

Why sofas are collected separately
Old sofas and armchairs often contain chemicals in the foam and fabric known as POPs. Since 2023 they have had to be kept out of landfill and general skips and sent for proper treatment. That is why we collect upholstered furniture as its own load.
We take sofas, armchairs, footstools and sofa beds from inside your home, including from upstairs flats. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift and if the sofa came in assembled, and we will bring the right tools to get it out without damage.
If your sofa is in good condition with fire labels attached, a local furniture charity may collect it for free. If not, send us a photo and we will give you a price.
