A 4-yard skip costs £130 + VAT for hardcore only, £150 + VAT for green waste and £220 + VAT for mixed household waste. It is our most booked size because it suits so many home jobs, and seven days' hire is included.

Is a 4-yard skip right for your job?
A 4-yard skip is the larger of our two mini skips and holds roughly 35 to 45 bin bags. It's our most popular size for small kitchen refits, garage clear-outs and bigger garden jobs. Like the 2-yard, it can take heavy hardcore, soil and rubble, at £130 + VAT for hardcore only. If your job is mostly light, bulky waste like old furniture and packaging, a 6-yard may give better value.
The jobs a 4-yard skip handles best
A kitchen refit, a garage clear-out, a medium garden tidy or the waste from a small renovation all fit comfortably in a 4-yard.
It is also the largest skip that can take soil, hardcore and rubble, which makes it the go-to size for patios, paths and garden digs.
What should not go in it?
Keep electrical items, batteries, gas bottles, paint, chemicals, asbestos and tyres out of the skip, and keep plasterboard separate from general waste. Mattresses can go in at no extra charge. Upholstered furniture such as sofas must be mentioned first, because it has to be handled separately.
The price also depends on whether the load is clean hardcore, separate green waste or mixed waste.

Will a 4-yard skip fit on my drive?
A 4-yard skip fits on most standard driveways with room to spare. Check that a car can still get past if you need it, and that the lorry can reverse in with clear space above for its lifting arm.
If it has to go on the road, we arrange the West Sussex County Council licence, which needs at least ten working days' notice.
Real jobs that fit a 4-yard skip
The 4-yard skip is our most popular size. It holds roughly 35 to 45 bin bags of mixed waste and still fits on most standard drives, which is why it suits so many home jobs.
Typical 4-yard jobs include a kitchen refit, clearing a garage, a medium garden tidy with branches and turf, or the waste from a small renovation. It can also take hardcore and soil, as long as the load stays within the weight limit and is level with the top.
If you are torn between 4 and 6 yards, look at the type of waste rather than the amount. Light, bulky waste like furniture and packaging suits a bigger skip. Heavy waste like rubble suits a 4-yard skip, because a 6-yard skip full of rubble would be too heavy to lift.
4-yard skip questions
How many bin bags fit in a 4-yard skip?
Roughly 35 to 45 bags of mixed household waste.
Is a 4-yard skip big enough for a kitchen refit?
Yes. A 4-yard takes the old units, worktops, tiles and packaging from a typical kitchen.
Can a 4-yard skip take soil and rubble?
Yes. It is the largest size that can, as long as the load is level with the top.
